Motronic 1.7 и сродните системи 1.7.1 и 1.7.2, както и  M3 с под-вариантите си са следващото поколение ECU-ta na БМВ след M1.1, M1.2 и M1.3

M1.7 се използва за двигатели M40, M42 и M70. M1.7.1 се ползва единствено само за двигател S70 на  BMW 850CSi.

M1.7.2 за използва за  4-цилиндровите двигатели M42 and M43.  M3.1 е система за управление на по-ранните 6-цилиндрови M50 24v двигатели без VANOS.

Система M3.3 се ползва за по-късните  3.8 литрови двигатели S38b38, S50 3.0 M3 и M60 V8 двигатели.

M3.3.1 с включено управление на VANOS се използва за  M50 двигатели при  E34 and E36 от 1992 г.
